Voyer 1985 Lot 85 Cognac - 38 Years Old

CHF320.00

Grape Of The Art - Voyer Lot 85 (1985) Cognac Grande Champagne - 38 YO - 53.7% - 70cl

When it comes to cognac, Grape of the Art has a soft spot for classic profiles: it needs fruit, and plenty of it! This Lot 85 perfectly matches that quest for simplicity and aromatic richness. It immediately captivates with its intense notes of juicy peach, enhanced by a spicy floral touch brought by barrel aging.

A little anecdote about 1985

There are some vintage 1985 cognacs, but very rarely from Grande Champagne. When the Grape of the Art team discussed this with Pierre Vaudon, the creative mind behind the Voyer and Vaudon houses, he explained that the volumes in 1985 were low, which partly explains why 1985 cognacs are so rare on the market today.

Nestled in the village of Éraville, in the heart of Grande Champagne – the Premier Cru of Cognac, the François Voyer estate is a family-run house crafting elegant Cognacs for over 150 years. As a grower-distiller, Voyer controls every stage of production – from vineyard to ageing – across 28 hectares of chalk-rich soils, entirely within Grande Champagne. The estate mainly grows Ugni Blanc, with a touch of Folle Blanche, using sustainable viticulture practices. The base wines are dry and acidic, ideal for the traditional double distillation in two small copper pot stills (25 hl), capturing the subtlest aromas. Ageing takes place exclusively in French Limousin oak casks, in cellars with controlled humidity. The result is a lineup of refined Cognacs, with floral notes, white fruits, gentle spice and a silky texture. From VS to XO, and up to vintage and extra old expressions, every François Voyer Cognac reflects the depth and finesse of its terroir. Some expressions are non-chill filtered and bottled at higher strength to preserve their full aromatic character. Praised by collectors and connoisseurs alike, François Voyer represents traditional excellence and pure craftsmanship in Grande Champagne Cognac.

“Grape of the Art” (GotA) is a project that showcases exceptional Armagnacs and Cognacs, bottled in single casks and without reduction, to satisfy rum and whisky lovers. The concept was born of a group of enthusiasts in Stuttgart who, after discovering the quality and diversity of Armagnacs, decided to devote themselves to this French eau-de-vie. Their aim is to reveal the hidden treasures of small producers by selecting rare, unaltered casks.
