Founded in 1753, Hampden is one of Jamaica's oldest operating distilleries. It has a long history of producing high-quality rums, particularly heavy and esterified rums. It uses a prolonged fermentation process, often lasting up to several weeks. This process is carried out in wooden vats, which encourage the development of unique indigenous yeasts and bacteria. The use of "muck pits", pits containing decomposing organic matter, increases ester levels and gives the rum its complex aromatic profile.

The Roots, founded by Joren, is an independent bottler relatively new to the spirits scene, dedicated to discovering and showcasing the most distinctive and authentic spirits.
