The Salamandre distillery, nestling in the splendid Périgord Noir valley 4km from Sarlat-la-Canéda (France), embodies the soul of local tradition and craftsmanship. Founded in the 1970s by Raymond Gatinel, a man with a passion for distillation and local fruit, the distillery began its adventure in a unique way: with a mobile still. Raymond, a true pioneer, travelled from farm to farm, through the villages of the Périgord, transforming the fruit harvests of local farmers into eaux-de-vie and liqueurs. He had a passion for natural products, artisanal processing and, of course, for the secrets of making spirits. The distillery pioneered on-site distillation, an approach that allowed Raymond to forge an intimate bond with the landscape and people of the region. This process has not only helped to preserve local traditions, but has also made the most of the region's forgotten or little-used fruit. Today, this passion continues through Raymond's children, who have taken over the business while retaining the family's original know-how and philosophy.

Swell by Spirits is created in 2021 by Michael Barbaria. Its bottlings come from a meticulous selection of exceptional barrels in collaboration with each producer, to which it pays homage by succeeding in captivating the most discerning taste buds of enlightened amateurs. Its bottles, with a design just as original as the liquid they contain, make Swell de Spirits a key player on the independent scene.
