Nestled in the heart of Bas-Armagnac, Maison Marquestau has been perpetuating the art of armagnac making since the XIXᵉ century through a sober and rigorous approach. On the estate's sandy soils, traditional grape varieties give rise to eaux-de-vie distilled in continuous stills, then aged slowly in Gascon oak barrels. The Marquestau style is distinguished by its balance: a straightforward attack, with notes of dried fruit, light tobacco and mild spices, supported by a supple, elegant structure. The house may remain discreet, but it will win over discerning wine-lovers with the depth of its vintages, which are often aged for long periods. “Grape of the Art” (GotA) is a project that showcases exceptional Armagnacs and Cognacs, bottled in single casks and without reduction, to satisfy rum and whisky lovers. The concept was born of a group of enthusiasts in Stuttgart who, after discovering the quality and diversity of Armagnacs, decided to devote themselves to this French eau-de-vie. Their aim is to reveal the hidden treasures of small producers by selecting rare, unaltered casks.
